Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James clinched his first NBA win on Wednesday, helping the team secure their first Summer League victory after facing online scrutiny.

The 19-year-old guard, and son of basketball legend LeBron James, scored 12 points, including a crucial 17-foot pull-up jumper, leading the Lakers to an 87-86 win over the Atlanta Hawks at the Thomas & Mack Centre.

Bronny has been under intense pressure, facing backlash and claims of nepotism. Despite the criticism, he acknowledged the support of his parents, LeBron and Savannah James, who have encouraged him to stay focused.

Adding to his support system, basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal, known affectionately as "Uncle Shaq," offered words of encouragement. "Keep playing hard, Bronny. Uncle Shaq loves you," O'Neal said, understanding the pressures Bronny faces, as his own son Shareef has pursued a similar path.

Rich Paul, CEO of Klutch Sports and agent for both Bronny and LeBron James, emphasized that all rookies go through a development phase. "Bronny is no different. He’s playing because it's his passion," Paul stated, confident that Bronny will continue to improve.

With his first NBA win, Bronny James is beginning to carve out his own path, supported by family, friends, and legends of the game.
