Kevin Durant is now the top Olympic scorer in USA Basketball history. He scored 11 points in Team USA's 122–87 win over Brazil in the 2024 Olympic Games quarterfinals in Paris.

This brings his total to 494 points, surpassing Lisa Leslie's record of 488 points. Leslie won four gold medals for Team USA in 1996, 2000, 2004, and 2008. Durant is aiming for his fourth gold medal, having previously won in 2012, 2016, and 2020.

Devin Booker, Durant's Phoenix Suns teammate and fellow Team USA player, suggested a new nickname for Durant after his latest achievement. "That's Captain America status," Booker told NBC. "I feel like he has every record, every Olympic record. Now we have to get him his fourth gold."

Durant was one of six Americans to score in double figures on Tuesday, with Booker scoring 18 points, Anthony Edwards 17, Joel Embiid 14, Anthony Davis 13, and LeBron James 12.

Next, Durant, or "Captain America," and Team USA will face Serbia, led by Nikola Jokic, in the Olympic semifinals on Thursday. The USA beat Serbia 110–84 in their earlier group game on July 28.
