Sean O’Malley, after losing his UFC Bantamweight title to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306, is now saying he actually won. The fight took place on September 14, 2024, and Dvalishvili dominated O’Malley with his strong wrestling skills, earning a unanimous decision win after five rounds.

Initially, O’Malley accepted his defeat, much like he did in his earlier losses to Marlon “Chito” Vera in 2020 and Pedro Munhoz in 2022. However, O'Malley has now taken to social media, claiming that after watching the fight again, he believes he won two of the last three rounds.

On Twitter, he jokingly said, “Suga State athletic commission BREAKING NEWS: Suga won 2 of the last 3 rounds!! Fight Over turned. Suga won!”

In reality, two of the judges did give O’Malley two rounds, but not the last two as he claimed. Instead, they scored rounds three and five in his favor, giving him 10-9 scores. The third judge gave Dvalishvili a 49-46 win, also awarding O’Malley only round five.

With the win, Dvalishvili extended his winning streak to 11 fights. He is now expected to defend his title against Umar Nurmagomedov, who holds an undefeated record of 18-0.
