Kamala Harris is working to connect with Taylor Swift's fans, also known as "Swifties," in her campaign for president. Recently, Taylor Swift endorsed Harris on Instagram, which is a big deal because Swift has millions of dedicated fans. However, Harris's campaign had already been making moves to engage with Swifties before this endorsement.

One Swiftie, Irene Kim, who has attended several of Swift's concerts and spends a lot of time talking to other fans online, started a group called “Swifties for Kamala.” This group of volunteers has been very active on social media, using memes, videos, and posts to get Swift’s fans to support Harris. They've raised over $165,000 for the campaign and have about 3,500 volunteers working on various projects like canvassing and phone banking.

Although "Swifties for Kamala" operates independently, they are in touch with the official campaign. Kim says the group wants to help elect the first female president and believes Harris is the right choice to protect people's rights.

Since Taylor Swift's public endorsement of Harris, the group has seen a surge in social media activity and voter registrations. They hope this energy will turn into votes for Harris, especially among younger voters, who make up a large part of Swift's fanbase. While some Swifties support Donald Trump, Kim and her group focus on respectful conversations and avoid engaging in online hate.

As the presidential race heats up, Swifties for Kamala could play a crucial role in mobilizing young voters, especially in a close election where every vote counts.
