Mariah Carey is set to face her brother, Morgan Carey, in court, following the deaths of their mother, Patricia, and sister, Alison, who passed away on the same day in August. Morgan is continuing a defamation lawsuit he filed in 2021, claiming Mariah’s memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, damaged his reputation.

The court has ordered both siblings to give depositions by January 31, 2025. This legal action stems from Morgan's claims that Mariah made false statements about him in her book, calling him her "ex-brother" and accusing him of causing harm to her.

He is seeking a court decision to clear his name and undo the damage he says the book caused. Mariah has had a strained relationship with her family for years.

Her sister, Alison, also filed a lawsuit in 2021, accusing Mariah of causing emotional distress through the memoir. Mariah wrote that she felt safer keeping her distance from both her siblings.

Family feuds among celebrities are not uncommon, with stars like Drew Barrymore and Macaulay Culkin also having faced legal issues with their relatives. For many, these disputes often play out in the public eye, adding to the emotional toll. Despite these conflicts, Mariah has asked for privacy as she deals with the loss of her mother and sister.
