Shakira has shared how writing music helped her cope after her split from Gerard Piqué. The singer and the soccer star ended their 11-year relationship in 2022. In an interview with GQ Spain, Shakira opened up about how her latest album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women Don’t Cry Anymore), played a big part in her healing process.

“For months, I stayed silent after the breakup, trying to grieve. But it wasn’t until I started writing music that I could truly begin healing,” she said. “Grief isn’t a straight path. It has its ups and downs.”

The breakup also changed her view of love. Shakira admitted, “The love of a partner let me down. It made me lose trust in others, at least for now.” But she hinted that this pain is inspiring more music, joking, “This healing process might take a few albums!”

Shakira and Piqué, who share two sons, Milan (11) and Sasha, went through a very public breakup, followed by cheating rumors. Shakira told Rolling Stone in July 2024 that the pain was overwhelming. “It was the worst suffering I’ve ever felt. It made it hard to function,” she revealed. “It felt like there was a hole in my chest.”

Despite the challenges, Shakira is pushing forward with her music and career. She recently announced that her upcoming Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour will be delayed from November 2024 to May 2025, but she’s excited to bring her fans a bigger and better show.

Shakira thanked her fans on Instagram, saying, “Your support has been incredible, and it’s turning this into my biggest tour yet. We’re moving the North American leg to stadiums to meet demand and give you the best show possible.” Source: People
