Randy Couture, a former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight champion, understands the situation that Francis Ngannou is currently in.

Ngannou, another former UFC Heavyweight champion, recently left the promotion due to a disagreement over certain contractual freedoms.

Couture faced a similar situation in the late 2000s when he attempted to set up a fight with all-time great, Fedor Emelianenko.

The fight ultimately did not happen and Couture settled with the UFC after spending a significant amount in legal fees before finishing his career in the Octagon.

Couture believes that the UFC's reluctance to give fighters additional benefits and transparency is due to their desire to maintain control over them.

He added that he had similar issues when the UFC was bought by Zuffa, and that this has made it more difficult for fighters to negotiate better deals in the future.
