Following Jon Jones' return win as a Heavyweight at UFC 285, he called out Stipe Miocic for a potential fight at UFC 290 on July 8.

However, on Thursday, March 16, 2023, Jones took to Twitter claiming he was hearing rumors of Miocic starting to back off from their proposed bout.

Miocic quickly responded by posting a picture of the two with the caption, "See you in July" along with a video, silencing Jones' claims of ducking the fight.

Although the promotion has not confirmed the Heavyweight title fight between Jones and Miocic, all parties, including UFC President Dana White, have expressed their desire for the fight to happen on that specific date.

Miocic's next fight will be his first appearance since losing the title to Francis Ngannou in their March 2021 rematch.

Miocic is widely considered one of the greatest Heavyweights in MMA history, catching the attention of Jones specifically for the status he has established.

Jones, the former longtime Light Heavyweight kingpin, was in the GOAT discussions before moving up in weight.

With his recent win and second divisional title, many within the community feel there is no argument to be had regarding his spot at the top of MMA history.

Despite Jones' claims, it seems that the highly anticipated bout between the two champions is still on track for July 8.

Fans will eagerly await the official confirmation from the UFC, but until then, the anticipation and excitement for this potential matchup will continue to grow.
