Golden State Warriors’ star Klay Thompson was unexpectedly absent from Tuesday night’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, with the team being cautious about his injury.

According to Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, Thompson's back flared up during the team’s pregame walk through, but he doesn’t believe it will keep him out of either of the remaining games.

The team is exercising caution with Thompson as the NBA Playoffs are rapidly approaching. Golden State still has to lock up a guaranteed spot within the top six of the Western Conference standings, so they can’t take their foot off the gas.

Jordan Poole started the game in place of Thompson and scored 30 points on 8-for-19 shooting from the field.

Poole played the role of a sidekick to Stephen Curry, who paced the Warriors with 34 points on 11-for-25 shooting.

The Warriors are left with no home games for the remainder of the 2022-23 NBA regular season. They will travel to Sacramento on Friday and face off against the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday.

Thompson has been averaging 21.8 points on 43.3 percent shooting from the floor, 40.7 percent from behind the arc, and 87.7 percent from the free-throw line this season.

Although his sudden absence was unexpected, the Warriors will continue to monitor his injury as they enter the final stretch of the season.

Thompson’s presence will be crucial to the team's success in the playoffs, and they will do everything possible to ensure that he is healthy and ready to compete.

For now, it seems that his absence was a precautionary measure, and he should be back on the court soon.
