The injury suffered by Liv Morgan during her WWE Women's Tag Team Championship match on SmackDown was indeed real and not part of a scripted storyline.

Confirming the legitimacy of the injury, Michael Cole acknowledged it on this week's episode of SmackDown. The severity of Morgan's injury prompted Raquel Rodriguez to relinquish the women's tag team title during the same episode.

To crown new champions, WWE has scheduled a Fatal Four Way match on the May 29, 2023, episode of RAW. This match will determine who will take the vacant women's tag team titles.

The unfortunate injury to Liv Morgan has caused her to miss a significant amount of television time, as mentioned by Michael Cole during the show.

WWE even went so far as to replay footage from Morgan and Rodriguez's tag team title defense against Bayley and Dakota Kai to highlight the extent of Liv's injury. This further solidified the fact that her injury is genuine and not part of any scripted narrative.

Morgan and Rodriguez initially secured the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship by defeating Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus on the April 10, 2023, episode of Monday Night RAW.

Following their victory, Trish turned heel on her tag team partner, igniting a highly anticipated feud between the two.
In light of Liv Morgan's absence, it was revealed on SmackDown that Bayley and IYO SKY confronted Raquel Rodriguez.

Bayley, the former SmackDown Women's Champion, advised Rodriguez to find a replacement partner for their upcoming match against Damage CTRL on the next episode of SmackDown. One potential replacement for Liv Morgan could be former SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair

Charlotte has been absent from the WWE scene since losing her title to Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 39. However, she might make her return after a month-long hiatus to team up with Rodriguez in the Fatal Four Way match, where the new tag team champions will be determined.

As for the future of the women's tag team division, the direction it will take in the coming weeks remains to be seen and is subject to the creative decisions of Triple H.
