Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Anthony Bass has expressed regret for sharing a post on his social media endorsing anti-LGBTQ campaigns.

The video called on Christians to boycott companies like Target and Bud Light for their association with Pride campaigns.

Target had recently faced criticism for relocating some of its LGBTQ2S+ merchandise and placing Pride merchandise at the back of certain stores following customer backlash.

In the video, Bass strongly condemned these companies, describing their actions as evil and demonic, and urged Christians to withhold their support.

However, Bass later issued an apology before the Blue Jays' game against the Milwaukee Brewers, acknowledging the hurt caused to the Pride community, including his own friends and family members.

He spoke with his teammates, expressing remorse and informing them of his plan to educate himself better and make more informed decisions in the future.

Bass emphasized that the ballpark should be inclusive for everyone, and he wanted to welcome all fans. The Toronto Blue Jays issued a statement to the Toronto Star, clarifying that the views expressed by Bass were not reflective of the club's beliefs.

They reiterated their commitment to providing an inclusive and welcoming experience for all fans, highlighting their upcoming Pride Weekend and various allyship demonstrations throughout LGBTQ2S+ Pride Month.
Bass, who has appeared in 20 games for the Blue Jays this season, has since deleted the video from his social media accounts.

It's worth noting that Bass had previously made headlines in April when he confronted a United Airlines employee after they declined to clean up spilled popcorn caused by one of his young children.
