Teofimo Lopez strongly criticized Gervonta Davis for his tactics involving rehydration clauses and catchweights, which he believes are designed to weaken opponents and secure victories.

Teofimo did not hold back when expressing his views on how Davis exploits his popularity to gain an unfair advantage over his opponents. Surprisingly, despite his recent retirement announcement following his victory over Josh Taylor, Teofimo has no interest in fighting Davis.

He stated that if he were to face Davis, he would constantly postpone the fight, subjecting him to prolonged waiting periods. It is unclear where Teofimo derived this notion from, as Davis does not have a history of repeatedly delaying fights.

However, Teofimo's reservations seem to have solidified his decision not to engage with Davis. Teofimo's comments may suggest that he has concocted an imaginary scenario driven by his deepest fears, treating it as a reality.

During a media interaction, Teofimo revealed that he plans to retire without facing opponents such as Devin Haney, Gervonta Davis, Shakur Stevenson, and Ryan Garcia. He attributed his reluctance to the numerous battles he believes he would have to fight, not just against his opponents but also against referees, judges, cornermen, and commentators.

Overwhelmed by the prospect, Teofimo considers it to be too much to handle. Furthermore, he expressed concerns that if he were to sign a contract to fight Davis, the fight would be continuously postponed, leaving him waiting indefinitely.

Teofimo worried that if he were to withdraw from the fight, he would be labeled as scared or making a cowardly move. When addressing Davis directly, Teofimo resorted to name-calling, labeling him a coward and using derogatory language.

However, he also acknowledged that Davis is not the first fighter to employ rehydration clauses and catchweights as strategic advantages. Teofimo pointed out that renowned boxer Canelo Alvarez has utilized these tactics for a considerable time and is hailed as the "Face of Boxing."

When asked about his toughest potential opponents, Teofimo noted that Shakur would be a technical challenge, while Davis possesses power and speed. He also mentioned that Ryan Garcia approached him for a fight after the Josh Taylor bout but dismissed the offer without consideration.

In summary, Teofimo Lopez unleashed scathing criticism towards Gervonta Davis for employing rehydration clauses and catchweights, accusing him of gaming the system. Despite his retirement announcement, Teofimo expressed no desire to face Davis and even anticipated fight postponements.

His claims and derogatory remarks against Davis have created an air of animosity between the two fighters, while Teofimo also raised concerns about the broader challenges he perceives in the boxing world.
