Lionel Messi's son, Thiago Messi, aged 10, has made a significant move by becoming a part of Inter Miami's U-12 academy team for the upcoming 2023-24 season, as confirmed by the club on Friday.

Among the 150 players vying for positions in Miami's various youth squads this season, Thiago stands out as one of the 35 fresh faces joining the club's academy initiative.

This season, Miami's U-12 team is set to compete in the Florida League Academy, while the older teams will engage in the MLS Next leagues.

Additionally, the U-19 squad is gearing up for participation in the United Premier Soccer League. Thiago Messi's journey to Miami's academy began without any prior club affiliations, but he swiftly demonstrated his talents by participating in a match following the senior team's triumphant victory in the Leagues Cup against Atlanta United last month.

His choice to join Inter Miami's ranks adds another layer to the legacy of soccer prodigies associated with the club. This is evident in the past enrollment of David Beckham's son, Romeo, who previously held a position on the team's roster before transitioning to Brentford B in January.

Furthermore, the link between prominent soccer figures and Miami's ranks extends to Phil Neville, the former head coach, whose son Harvey remains under contract with the club. Presently, Harvey Neville is gaining experience on loan with the USL Championship side Loudoun United.

As the 2023-24 season approaches, Thiago Messi's entry into Inter Miami's U-12 academy team adds excitement and anticipation for the club's future in youth soccer development.
