The Los Angeles Clippers left no room for doubt as they cruised to a commanding 123-83 victory over the San Antonio Spurs at Crypto.com Arena on Sunday night.

The game marked the first road appearance for the highly anticipated No. 1 overall draft pick, Victor Wembanyama, who had a challenging outing, finishing with just 11 points. The Clippers asserted their dominance from the start, taking a commanding 20-7 lead early in the game and limiting Wembanyama to just two points in the first quarter.

By halftime, the Clippers had built a substantial 19-point lead, holding the Spurs to a mere 20 points as a team in the second quarter. The third quarter turned into a nightmare for the Spurs as the Clippers embarked on an 18-6 run, pushing their lead to an insurmountable 30 points.

From that point on, the outcome was clear, and the Clippers coasted to a resounding 40-point win. Kawhi Leonard led the Clippers' charge with 21 points and four assists, while Paul George and Russell Westbrook contributed 19 points each.

Ivica Zubac chipped in with 16 points and eight rebounds. The Clippers showcased their efficiency, shooting just shy of 52% as a team and outrebounding the Spurs by 11.

Remarkably, the Clippers only trailed for about three minutes throughout the entire contest. Victor Wembanyama's performance on the court had its highs and lows during his brief NBA career.

In his debut game against the Dallas Mavericks, he played 23 minutes, scoring 15 points, and displaying an impressive fourth-quarter performance to keep the Spurs in contention. He followed this with a strong performance against the Houston Rockets, contributing 21 points and 12 rebounds, although he struggled from behind the arc.

However, in the game against the Clippers, Wembanyama was contained to just 11 points, five rebounds, and two assists. He encountered a tough defensive effort, shooting 4-of-10 from the field and committing five turnovers.

Notably, all four of his field goals came from inside the paint, just a few feet from the rim. There was even a moment when fellow Frenchman Nicolas Batum of the Clippers blocked Wembanyama's dunk attempt.

Devin Vassell was the leading scorer for the Spurs with 14 points, while Cedi Osman added 12 points off the bench. They were the only Spurs players to reach double figures in scoring.

The San Antonio Spurs, including Victor Wembanyama, will look to regroup as they face the Phoenix Suns in back-to-back games starting Tuesday night. Wembanyama's early experiences in the NBA promise a mix of challenges and triumphs as he adjusts to the demanding competition at the highest level of basketball.
