Jamal Crawford Advises Klay Thompson On Embracing Bench Role Amidst Stellar Performance

Golden State Warriors' star Klay Thompson found himself coming off the bench for the first time since his rookie season. 

Veteran NBA player and three-time Sixth Man of the Year, Jamal Crawford, reached out to offer advice to Thompson, encouraging him to embrace the change in his role. 

Thompson's response to this adjustment was nothing short of spectacular. In the recent 140-137 victory against the Utah Jazz, the sharpshooter came off the bench, making seven three-pointers and finishing the game with a remarkable 35 points.

This performance marked a rejuvenation for Thompson, who had faced challenges during the 2023-24 season. Crawford, who joined 'The Draymond Green Show,' shared insights into the conversation he had with Thompson before the transition. 

Acknowledging the legendary status Thompson holds in the league, Crawford emphasized the importance of embracing change, highlighting that Thompson's battle was not just on the court but also against his own legendary legacy. 

The former Sixth Man of the Year outlined the benefits of Thompson playing a reduced role, emphasizing that, as a focal point off the bench, Thompson could find a rhythm and enjoy more freedom on the court, leading to improved performance and potentially more fun.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr commended Thompson's professionalism in handling the situation, describing him as a determined and competitive champion. Kerr praised Thompson's response to the challenge, noting his exceptional performance in the game against the Jazz.
