Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama secured a rare triple-double during Monday's 122-99 victory over the Toronto Raptors, marking the first time in more than three years that an NBA player achieved a triple-double with blocked shots as one of the categories.

Wembanyama's standout performance included a total of 27 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists, with the highlight being a crucial blocked shot against Toronto's Gradey Dick with 6:32 remaining in the fourth quarter.

The rookie's defensive prowess added a unique dimension to his second triple-double of the season, firmly establishing him as a force to be reckoned with in the league.

This achievement places Wembanyama in elite company, becoming the 26th NBA player overall and the first in over three years to record 10 or more blocked shots in a triple-double. The last instance was noted on January 22, 2021, when Clint Capela accomplished the feat for the Atlanta Hawks.

Hakeem Olajuwon holds the record for the most triple-doubles with blocks, achieving this remarkable feat 11 times, surpassing legends like Dikembe Mutombo and Spurs Hall of Famer David Robinson. Robinson, who had nine such triple-doubles, including a quadruple-double, remains an iconic figure in Spurs history.

Wembanyama, the No. 1 pick in last year's NBA draft, continues to make waves in his debut season. As he prepares to participate in the upcoming All-Star weekend in Indianapolis, where he is set to showcase his skills in the Rising Stars game and the Skills Competition, the young star is undeniably a player to watch in the league's future.
