The shooting occurred despite a significant police presence, raising concerns about safety at such events. The city has a history of struggling with gun violence, recording 182 homicides in 2023.

Social media captured chaotic scenes as fans scattered for cover, and videos showed police responding to the crisis. Lisa Lopez-Galvan, known as "Lisa G," was remembered as an extrovert and devoted mother from a prominent Latino family. Her husband and adult son, also shot, attended the parade with her.

The shooting has reignited discussions on gun violence, with President Joe Biden calling for action on gun control measures. Hospitals treated multiple gunshot victims, with eight in critical condition. The incident adds to a disturbing trend of sports celebrations ending in gun violence across the United States.

As the city grapples with the aftermath, questions about security, gun laws, and public safety loom large. The Kansas City Chiefs expressed sadness over the "senseless act of violence," emphasizing the need for unity in the face of tragedy. (SOURCE: AP News)
