Ahead of the highly anticipated MLB opener in Seoul, South Korea, the Gocheok Sky Dome faced a bomb threat, specifically naming superstar Shohei Ohtani

According to reports, an email received by the local police threatened to detonate a bomb at the stadium during the game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres.

Despite the alarming nature of the threat, authorities deemed it not credible, noting that the sender had a history of similar acts.

Local police, with the assistance of 30 commandos and 120 personnel, initiated a search of the stadium. However, no dangerous or suspicious items were discovered.

MLB, in conjunction with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, assured fans and participants of their commitment to safety. The league released a statement emphasizing their collaboration with local officials to ensure a secure environment for all attendees.

The game, marking the beginning of the 2024 season, holds significant intrigue as Shohei Ohtani prepares for his Dodgers debut following a record-breaking contract signing.

Additionally, the matchup features newly acquired Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow facing off against Padres ace Yu Darvish in what promises to be a compelling NL West clash, marking the first-ever regular season game held in South Korea.

Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto is also slated to make his Dodgers debut in the subsequent game in Seoul, adding to the international flair of the event.
