NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has issued a stern warning regarding Toronto Raptors forward Jontay Porter, amidst an ongoing investigation into alleged betting irregularities.

Silver emphasized the severity of the situation, stating that Porter could face a permanent ban from the league if found guilty. The suspicions arose following prop bets involving Porter on specific game dates, raising concerns about the integrity of the competition.

Speaking at the league's annual board of governors meetings, Silver highlighted the importance of maintaining the integrity of the game amidst the growing popularity of sports betting.

He expressed a desire for a unified federal framework governing sports betting, rather than the current state-by-state approach. Silver acknowledged the need for adjustments in rules and regulations as the industry evolves.

Additionally, Silver addressed the dispute between Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor and potential buyers Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez.
While the league is not directly involved, Silver mentioned a mediated process to resolve the disagreement.

On a different note, Silver discussed the recent decline in fouls and free throws in NBA games, attributing it to adjustments made by the league to address concerns about offensive advantages. Despite occasional anomalies, Silver expressed satisfaction with the competitive state of the game.
