Caitlin Clark, the former Iowa basketball star and the top pick in this year's WNBA draft by the Indiana Fever, is on the verge of signing a huge deal with Nike.

According to a report from Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the deal could be worth eight figures and will even feature a signature shoe for Clark.

Clark's impact on the league is already evident, even before she has played her first WNBA game. Her selection as the number one draft pick by the Fever led to a surge in interest, with ESPN's coverage of the 2024 WNBA draft attracting the largest TV audience since the year 2000.

The draft drew in 2.45 million viewers, which is four times more than the previous year. Given her rising star and influence, it's no surprise that Nike is eager to partner with Clark.

Her previous deal with the company ended after the recent college basketball season, allowing her to explore offers from Nike, Under Armour, and Adidas. However, it seems Clark is leaning towards sticking with Nike due to their previous relationship.

Clark will be joining an elite group of WNBA players who have their own shoe deals. This includes players like Elena Delle Donne and Sabrina Ionescu who are with Nike, as well as Diana Taurasi, Candace Parker, and Breanna Stewart who have deals with Nike, Adidas, and Puma respectively.

It's clear that Caitlin Clark's star is on the rise, and as she begins her WNBA career, her impact on the league is only expected to grow.
