The Philadelphia 76ers may face repercussions after the handling of Joel Embiid's injury reporting prior to their matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Embiid, the All-Star center, made his highly anticipated return to the court on Tuesday night against the Thunder after being sidelined since late January.

However, the events leading up to his return have caught the attention of the NBA.

Reports suggest that the league is "expected" to launch an investigation into how the Sixers managed the reporting of Embiid's injury situation.

Despite initial indications that Embiid would sit out, the Sixers listed him as questionable just hours before tip-off, eventually clearing him to play.

Embiid, who underwent surgery for a meniscus injury in February, ended up playing nearly 30 minutes and delivered an impressive performance, scoring 24 points and contributing across multiple categories.

While the Sixers secured a crucial win against the Thunder, improving their record to 41-35 for the season, the handling of Embiid's return has raised questions that could lead to consequences for the organization.
