Former NFL star and actor OJ Simpson, famously acquitted in the 'trial of the century', has passed away at the age of 76. 

Simpson, who gained fame both on the football field and in Hollywood, rose to prominence in college before his NFL career. 

In 1995, he was cleared of the murder charges of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend, a case that captivated the nation.
