In response to Jon Jones' recent callout for a heavyweight title bout, UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira expressed his willingness to step up to the challenge.

Speaking at a UFC 301 fan Q&A in Rio de Janeiro, Pereira acknowledged Jones' interest in facing him and emphasized his readiness to fight.

Pereira, who recently secured a first-round knockout victory over Jamahal Hill at UFC 300, has a history of dominance in both MMA and kickboxing. Despite initially focusing on defending his 205-pound title against Jiri Prochazka in a rematch, Pereira remains open to the possibility of moving up to heavyweight for a potential showdown with Jones.

While Pereira has never competed above the light heavyweight limit, he asserted that he walks around at 238 pounds outside of training camps, indicating his physical readiness for a move to the heavyweight division.

Jones, who holds both the light heavyweight and heavyweight titles, has been vocal about his desire to face Pereira, citing the potential for a historic matchup and significant financial rewards. He downplayed the appeal of a title unification bout against interim champ Tom Aspinall, emphasizing Pereira's status as a more compelling opponent.

With both fighters expressing interest in a heavyweight clash, fans await the UFC's decision on whether to book this highly anticipated showdown. As Pereira aptly put it, "This is for the promotion to decide, so let’s see what happens now."
