Hall of Fame legend James Toney Claims He Would Knock Out All Current Heavyweights

A Hall of Fame boxer has boldly claimed that none of today's heavyweight fighters are on his level.

The heavyweight division recently saw Oleksandr Usyk defeat Tyson Fury, handing Fury his first career loss and making Usyk the first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis nearly 25 years ago. Anthony Joshua also lost his titles to Usyk in 2021 and again in their rematch the following year.

Joshua has since started training with Ben Davison and appears to be regaining his form. Despite these developments, former three-weight world champion James Toney doesn't think much of the current heavyweight scene.

In an interview with Pro Boxing Fans, Toney was asked which current heavyweight would give him the toughest fight. His answer was blunt:

“Did you see how well I fought against Holyfield? I’m knocking everybody out, period. Nobody can keep me off, period. There is nobody in this era that is at my level, period. True story.”

Toney also commented on Deontay Wilder's recent knockout loss to Zhilei Zhang, saying there's no comeback for Wilder now.

“Deontay Wilder, it is what it is. I told everybody how he would end up. He’s done, it’s a wrap.”

James Toney won titles at middleweight, super-middleweight, and cruiserweight but never captured a heavyweight title. His victory over John Ruiz was overturned after a failed drug test, and he drew against Hasim Rahman when the WBC belt was on the line.
