Stephen Curry has expressed his heartfelt best wishes to Klay Thompson as their legendary partnership on the Golden State Warriors comes to an end. Curry and Thompson, who together set new standards for 3-point shooting and won four NBA titles over 13 seasons, have parted ways. Thompson has joined the Dallas Mavericks in free agency, seeking a fresh start after recent frustrations with the Warriors.

Curry took a break from his Olympic preparations to address the breakup, calling it "heartbreaking." The duo, known for their exceptional long-range shooting, combined for a record 678 three-pointers in the 2015-16 season and shared many memorable moments, including breaking each other's 3-point records.

Curry acknowledged the difficulty of accepting Thompson's departure, admitting he always hoped they would retire as teammates. Despite wanting Thompson to stay, Curry supported his friend's decision to seek happiness elsewhere. Curry emphasized that Thompson deserved to enjoy his remaining years in the NBA.

Thompson's move comes after two injury-plagued seasons and struggles to regain his form. With contract negotiations with the Warriors faltering, Thompson chose the Mavericks over the Lakers, even after an appeal from LeBron James.

Reflecting on the split, Curry said, "It’s just one of those situations where you have to trust he’s making the right decision for himself."

In a related development, Paul George also left the Clippers for the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency, parting ways with Kawhi Leonard after failing to win a championship together. Unlike Curry, Leonard refused to discuss George's departure.

As the NBA landscape shifts, Curry remains focused on his Olympic journey, carrying with him the cherished memories of his time with Thompson.
