Angels' highly-touted prospect Ben Joyce impressed in his first Major League Baseball appearance by delivering a blazing sinker that notched his inaugural career strikeout.

The 22-year-old flame-throwing right-hander entered the game after starting pitcher Griffin Canning and wasted no time making an impact.

Joyce's 102 MPH sinker left spectators in awe, as its sheer speed made it nearly impossible for the batter to make contact.

Interestingly, this level of velocity is not unfamiliar to the young rookie, as he previously threw a pitch clocked at an astounding 105.5 MPH during his college days at the University of Tennessee.

In his debut outing, Joyce exhibited poise and control, throwing only 12 pitches, with an impressive 10 of them finding the strike zone. Over the course of one inning, he allowed just one hit, recorded zero runs, and struck out two batters.

His performance was truly exceptional. Originally projected to make his debut in 2024 according to MLB.com, Joyce's rapid progression through the minor leagues propelled him to the major leagues ahead of schedule.

While renowned for his overpowering pitches, Joyce's slider, which typically hovers around 83 MPH, also proved to be a formidable weapon, causing hitters to swing and miss.

Undeterred by the pressure of the big stage, the 22-year-old rookie displayed confidence and composure throughout the game.

Moving forward, it remains to be seen how the Angels organization plans to utilize Joyce's talents. However, his remarkable debut suggests a bright future awaits the promising pitcher.
