Social Media Sparks Heated Exchange Between Deebo Samuel And C.J. Gardner-Johnson

The pregame scuffle between the San Francisco 49ers and the Cleveland Browns didn't end on the field, as it spilled over into the realm of social media on a Sunday night.

Detroit Lions safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who is currently sidelined due to a pectoral injury, chimed in on the commotion on X, formerly known as Twitter, and didn't hold back in criticizing 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

However, Samuel wasted no time in responding to Gardner-Johnson's critique. He took to social media to share a video from a past altercation, featuring former Chicago Bears wide receiver Javon Wims swinging at Gardner-Johnson during an on-field incident in November 2020.

There seems to be more to this feud than meets the eye. Gardner-Johnson was a member of the Philadelphia Eagles team that defeated the 49ers in last year's NFC Championship Game. Samuel had previously expressed his strong disliking for the Eagles, labeling them as his "most hated" team.

He made it clear that the upcoming rematch between the Eagles and the 49ers in Week 13 remains a significant focus for him. Unfortunately, the 49ers' game against the Browns took an unfortunate turn for Samuel, who exited the match in the first quarter due to a shoulder injury and didn't return to the field.

On the other hand, Gardner-Johnson finds himself on the injured reserve list after sustaining a pectoral injury during Detroit's Week 2 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.

While the 49ers and the Lions are not scheduled to face each other during the regular season, the possibility of a postseason matchup looms large, especially with both teams sporting impressive 5-1 records.
