In a thrilling showdown, Kevin Durant achieved a monumental milestone, becoming only the 12th player in NBA history to surpass 27,000 career points.

With a powerful dunk in the final moments of the game, Durant solidified his place in basketball history during the Suns' heart-pounding 115-114 loss to the Spurs.

Durant's extraordinary accomplishment is made even more impressive by the fact that he reached this milestone in just 990 career games, placing him among an elite group of players. The only three who achieved this feat in fewer games are Wilt Chamberlain (780 games), Michael Jordan (852), and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (965).

Notably, Kevin Durant now stands as the second active player with over 27,000 points, only trailing the all-time scoring leader, LeBron James, who boasts an astonishing 38,740 points to his name.

The basketball world is abuzz with anticipation as Durant inches closer to the top 10 on the all-time scoring list. With just 312 points needed to surpass Elvin Hayes (27,313) and an additional 96 points to eclipse Moses Malone (27,409), Durant's ascent in the rankings is virtually guaranteed.

In a much-anticipated matchup against rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama, Durant showcased his skills, contributing 26 points and 7 assists. Wembanyama, in his own right, displayed impressive stats with 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks.

Before the game, the rookie sensation expressed his admiration for Durant, highlighting the near-impossible task of guarding him consistently throughout his career. Durant, in response to this praise, humbly joked, "It means I'm old."

Fans can look forward to another exciting clash between the Suns and Spurs, set to take place in Phoenix on Thursday. Kevin Durant's journey to the top of the NBA's all-time scoring list is one of the most captivating stories of the season, and the basketball world eagerly awaits his next chapter.
