Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant is set to undergo season-ending surgery to repair a labral tear in his right shoulder, the team confirmed on Monday.

The 24-year-old, a two-time All-Star, suffered a subluxation during a training session on Saturday.

Morant's recent impact on the court has been significant, leading the Grizzlies to a winning record of 6-3 after returning from a league-mandated 25-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the league.

His absence could pose challenges for Memphis, currently sitting at 13-23 and 13th in the competitive Western Conference.

Despite the setback, Morant is expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2024-25 season.

The Grizzlies organization and fans will eagerly await his return to continue making strides on the basketball court. (Source: NBA)
