During the thrilling showdown between the Denver Nuggets and the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night, Victor Wembanyama etched his name in NBA history books.

The Nuggets dominated the court, clinching a 117-106 victory over the Spurs at the latter's home turf in Texas.

Wembanyama showcased his prowess with a stellar performance, tallying 17 points, nine rebounds, two assists, two steals, and three blocks in 33 minutes of play.

However, his impact stretched beyond statistics as he became only the second player since the official recording of blocks in 1973-74 to achieve over 200 blocks and 100 made threes in a single season, a feat previously accomplished by Raef LaFrentz in 2001-02.

The rookie sensation has been a standout performer throughout the season, boasting averages of 20.6 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.3 steals, and 3.4 blocks per game.

With such remarkable contributions, Wembanyama is poised as a strong contender for the coveted 2024 Rookie of The Year Award.

On the flip side, the Spurs' struggles continue as they suffered their third consecutive defeat, dropping to a dismal 14-53 record in 67 games.

Positioned as the 15th seed in the Western Conference, the Spurs find themselves amidst a challenging phase, with a 3-7 record in their last ten outings. Their next test awaits as they gear up to host Mikal Bridges and the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, the Nuggets soar to the top of the Western Conference standings with an impressive 47-20 record in 67 games. Riding high on a five-game winning streak and boasting a stellar 9-1 record in their last ten matchups, the Nuggets exhibit championship potential as they continue their quest for NBA glory.
