Bronny James, the USC guard and son of NBA superstar LeBron James, has made headlines by announcing his intentions to enter the NBA draft while also considering a transfer from USC

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, a prominent basketball analyst, James is eyeing Duquesne University as a potential landing spot if he decides to stay in college.

The connection between James and Duquesne runs deep, as the school's new coach, Dru Joyce, was a high school teammate of LeBron James and a longtime family friend.

Joyce took over as head coach after Keith Dambrot's retirement, who previously coached both James and Joyce at St. Vincent-St. Mary in Akron, Ohio.

James recently completed his first season at USC, where he faced challenges both on and off the court. After suffering a cardiac arrest during a practice last July, he underwent a procedure to address a congenital heart defect. Despite the setback, James returned to play in late November and showed glimpses of his potential throughout the season.

While James considers his options, including a potential NBA career, he must first be cleared by the league's fitness-to-play panel. The deadline for him to make a decision is May 31, where he must choose between staying in the draft or withdrawing his name and returning to school.

If James decides to continue his collegiate career, Duquesne appears to be a logical choice given the strong ties between the university and his family. The team's recent success, including an appearance in the NCAA tournament and a victory over BYU, further adds to its appeal as a potential destination for the young guard.
