Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is gearing up for his return to the boxing ring, set to square off against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in an exhibition match on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Tyson, who last fought professionally in 2005, remains a legendary figure in the sport, boasting an impressive record of 50 wins and 6 losses.

Despite his long hiatus, the 57-year-old is still revered as one of the greatest boxers of all time, having claimed the title of youngest ever heavyweight world champion at just 20 years old.

In a recent interview, Tyson disclosed his top three favorite boxers, naming Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, and Roberto Duran as his idols. He reminisced about how Duran's historic victory over Sugar Ray Leonard in 1980 inspired him to pursue boxing, declaring, "Duran got me into fighting. I watched him fight Leonard and thought, 'Wow, I wanna do this'."

But it was Duran's menacing aura that truly captivated Tyson. On his podcast, Hotboxin', Tyson described Duran as "a mean motherf***er, people scared to look at him. The devil." It was this intimidating presence that resonated with Tyson, fueling his desire to emulate Duran's ferocity in the ring.

Reflecting on the allure of boxing, Tyson noted the unique charisma possessed by certain fighters, even in defeat. "Fighting is weird," he remarked. "Some people are born like that, they just look good doing everything, even losing."

As Tyson continues his preparations for his upcoming exhibition match, his admiration for boxing legends like Ali, Robinson, and Duran serves as a testament to the enduring impact of these iconic figures on the sport and its practitioners.
