O'Shaquie Foster was shocked after losing his world title to Robson Conceicao and immediately called for a rematch. The fight took place on the undercard of Shakur Stevenson's win over Artem Harutyunyan in Newark.
Foster, who was defending his WBC super-featherweight title, appeared to outclass Conceicao. Despite this, the judges' split decision gave the win to Conceicao, causing a huge controversy. One judge scored the fight 116-112 in favor of Foster, while the other two scored it 116-112 and 115-113 for Conceicao.
Foster was near tears and furious about the decision. In his post-fight interview, he said, "I thought it was an easy fight. I didn’t get touched but with a headbutt. They stole this fight from me." He added that he wants a rematch, believing the judges made a mistake.

Many in the boxing world agreed with Foster. Boxer Regis Prograis tweeted that it was one of the biggest robberies in boxing history. Ex-world champion Jamel Herring and numerous fans also expressed their disbelief and anger over the decision.
Despite the controversy, one fan noted that Foster's low work rate might have influenced the judges. Foster's punch stats showed he landed 109 punches to Conceicao's 76.
Foster might appeal the decision or seek an immediate rematch to reclaim his title.
