The feud between Belal Muhammad and Colby Covington, two top Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight contenders, continues to escalate.

Despite Muhammad's nine-fight unbeaten streak and No. 4 ranking, UFC President Dana White declared Covington as next in line for the 170-pound title after Leon Edwards retained it at UFC 286.

Covington's recent threats to UFC commentator Jon Anik were enough for Muhammad to continue blasting "Chaos" on social media.

Muhammad even threatened to physically confront Covington in Miami, referencing his alleged assault case outside Papi Steakhouse with bitter rival Jorge Masvidal.

Muhammad has been vocal about only wanting to fight for the title next or against someone ranked above him, and Covington fits the bill as the No. 2-ranked Welterweight.

Edwards, however, has shown no interest in a Covington bout, so Muhammad proposed a fight against Karen and the winner would face Edwards in October.

White has also mentioned the possibility of matching Muhammad against Shavkat Rakhmonov, although neither matchup has been officially confirmed.

Muhammad's recent social media outbursts, including his Photoshop and TMZ-style clip edit, suggest that tensions between the two fighters are continuing to escalate, and that a potential showdown between Muhammad and Covington would be highly anticipated by UFC fans.
