UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones has called out Stipe Miocic, stating that Miocic has been avoiding a fight in 2022 and casting doubt on their upcoming UFC 290 bout.

Jones tweeted at Miocic, claiming that he had dodged him in July, September, and December 2022, and suggested that Miocic may not be available for their scheduled fight during International Fight Week.

Jones challenged Miocic, telling him to either believe in himself or stop wasting everyone's time.

However, a person close to Miocic has assured that he is "100 percent in" for the July 8 fight with Jones.

Miocic himself also responded to Jones' tweet on Twitter, stating that he is ready for the challenge.

Jones has targeted Miocic both before and after winning the heavyweight title, and even joked that Miocic should take time off from his job as a firefighter to prepare for their fight.

In response, Miocic brushed off the comments, saying he would do his talking in the octagon.

Miocic holds the current record for most consecutive title defenses in the heavyweight division with three, making him a highly sought after opponent for Jones, who is widely considered to be the best-ever light heavyweight and a pound-for-pound frontrunner.

UFC President Dana White did not immediately approve of the Jones vs. Miocic bout for UFC 290, but expressed excitement at the prospect of seeing the greatest mixed martial artist of all time face off against the greatest heavyweight of all time.
