Ryan Garcia’s victory over Devin Haney is under scrutiny following reports of a positive test for a banned performance-enhancing drug.

Garcia, who secured a majority decision win over Haney, allegedly tested positive for Ostarine in a test conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association prior to the fight.

The 25-year-old boxer now faces a crucial period where he can request that his B-sample be tested within 10 days. Additionally, there are unconfirmed reports stating that Garcia’s initial test also showed traces of 19-norandrosterone, another banned substance.

Garcia's victory, which saw him deliver three knockdowns against Haney, took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Although the WBC super lightweight title was at stake, Garcia missed weight by 3.2 pounds during the weigh-in, allowing Haney to retain the title despite the defeat.

In response to the allegations, Devin Haney’s father expressed outrage, accusing Garcia of attempting to harm his son. Haney, who suffered his first career loss, now holds a record of 31-1 with 15 knockouts.

On social media, Garcia vehemently denied the accusations, attributing the positive test to a supplement containing ashwagandha root. He questioned the timing of the allegations, suggesting foul play and emphasizing his innocence.

Garcia's statements on social media ranged from denial to defiance, with him asserting that he won the fight fairly and condemning those who accused him of cheating. Despite the controversy, Garcia’s professional record stands at 25-1, with uncertainty looming over his future fights and the outcome of the doping allegations.
