Dwight Howard Awaits 'LeGM's' Call For Team USA 2024 Olympics Bid

Dwight Howard has taken to social media, expressing his desire to join Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics, which LeBron James is reportedly assembling.

In his Instagram post, Howard humorously referred to James as "LeGM." It remains uncertain whether Howard and filmmaker Chase Walker actually contacted James to pitch his inclusion on the Olympic squad.

LeBron James has been actively recruiting NBA stars for the upcoming Olympics, having already spoken to players like Anthony Davis, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum, Draymond Green, Devin Booker, Damian Lillard, De’Aaron Fox, and Kyrie Irving, all of whom have shown interest.

Dwight Howard, who previously won an NBA championship with James in 2020 and a gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, did not play in the NBA last season after being with the Lakers in the 2021-22 campaign.

Team USA's quest for gold began in 2008 with James, marking the start of a remarkable streak of four consecutive gold medals, including James' last Olympic appearance in 2012 in London.

The recent fourth-place finish at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, with losses to Germany and Canada, has raised questions about how USA Basketball can improve its performance in the next Olympics. The addition of James' star-studded roster could significantly enhance their chances.

It's worth noting that James, Curry, and Durant would be approaching their late 30s during the 2024 Paris Games, a departure from the tradition of American Olympic teams being led by emerging young stars, as exemplified by the contrast between Kobe Bryant's age (33) and Anthony Davis's youth (19) during the 2012 Olympics.

Dwight Howard, if included, would also be 38 years old at the start of the Paris Games in July 2024.
