The tension between Canelo Álvarez and Oscar De La Hoya escalated dramatically during a pre-fight press conference in Las Vegas ahead of Álvarez's upcoming title bout with Jaime Munguía.

De La Hoya, speaking to reporters, launched a verbal assault on Álvarez, his former protege, which visibly agitated the Mexican boxing superstar. Álvarez, visibly upset, responded with fiery words, accusing De La Hoya of disrespect and attempting to cheat fighters out of their earnings.

Their heated exchange culminated in a confrontational moment where Álvarez confronted De La Hoya directly, leading to a physical separation between the two.

Álvarez's emotions were palpable as he expressed his frustration, alleging that De La Hoya had attempted to take advantage of him and other fighters financially.

The animosity between Álvarez and De La Hoya dates back to Álvarez's departure from Golden Boy Promotions, the company owned by De La Hoya, in 2020.

Álvarez filed a lawsuit against De La Hoya, citing a breach of contract, further exacerbating their already strained relationship.

Despite the focus being on Álvarez's upcoming bout with Munguía, it is evident that the personal feud between Álvarez and De La Hoya continues to simmer beneath the surface. This intense rivalry adds an extra layer of anticipation to the already highly anticipated matchup between Álvarez and Munguía, set to take place at the T-Mobile Arena.
